Celebrate a day of original theatre

The Chameleon Theatre Circle is proud to present its Eighth Annual New Play Festival on Saturday, February 10, at the Lakeville Area Arts Center in Lakeville.  The Eighth Annual New Play Festival features never before produced works presented in a concert style theatre format.  Over 300 submissions were received this year from locations around the world.  Six finalists will be showcased during the event, with an open-forum discussion with the playwright and/or cast and crew following each showcase.  Come experience a festival that celebrates new and exciting original theatre.

The Eighth Annual New Play Festival will take place on Saturday, February 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lakeville Area Arts Center, located at 20965 Holyoke Avenue in Lakeville.  Admission is free for this event.  Some content may not be appropriate for children.  For more information, contact The Chameleon Theatre Circle at 952-937-5645, e-mail chameleon@chameleon.org, or visit our Web site www.chameleontheatre.org.

Incorporated on January 9, 1998, The Chameleon Theatre Circle continues to succeed in accomplishing the company's mission of providing an engaging and complete experience to their audience through growth and development of all participants in a nurturing and unified environment.  Now in their ninth season, Evita will be The Chameleon Theatre Circle's 54th production.  In addition to known plays and musicals, The Chameleon Theatre Circle supports developing playwrights with its New Play Festival, now in its eighth year.  The company has produced nine world premieres, including Death Penalty Puppetry – an original play written by the company – and a collection of seven plays written by seven playwrights performed in one production.  The Chameleon Theatre Circle's production of Hair was also featured on PBS.  The Chameleon Theatre Circle has been a strong participant in MACT*Fest over the years, winning “Best in Show” in three out of four appearances, with two productions moving on to compete in the national AACT*Fest.  In all, the company has won twenty-four awards in theatre festivals.
